American Red Cross International Services is dedicated to reuniting family members separated by war or armed conflict. Each year, we deliver nearly 4,000 messages among families and trace over 1,000 people.
American Red Cross International Family Tracing Services include:
- Locating missing loved ones
- Exchanging family messages
- Making family welfare inquiries during and after overseas disasters
- Making health and welfare inquiries about family members around the world in non-disaster times
- Securing travel documents from the International Committee of the Red Cross to reunite separated family members
- Providing information and referral services when another agency can better meet a particular need
In St. Louis, the Red Cross partners with the International Institute to reach out to the local international community. In recent years, for example, this partnership has helped hundreds of Bosnian immigrants and refugees trace family members lost or killed in the former Yugoslavia during the armed conflict in the 1990s.
