WHAT:  The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter will feature five stories of heroism during a Lifesaver Award ceremony at Chapter Headquarters. A variety of people from all walks of life will receive honors – ranging from a police officer and a lifeguard, to a machine operator and a neighbor. In addition to these heroes, some of the people whose lives were saved will also attend.

St. Louis, Friday, March 19, 2010 – The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team to a house fire in the 2100 block of Jannette Drive in St. Louis, MO. The Red Cross is assisting one family. The Red Cross is providing food, clothing and shelter for the family of three adults and one child.

St. Louis, Monday, March 15, 2010 – Flooding is a coast to coast threat, but the St. Louis area is particularly prone to seasonal flooding. So during National Flood Safety Week (March 15 – 19), the St. Louis Area Chapter of the American Red Cross urges residents to take steps now to stay safe.

The Red Cross is assisting one family. The Red Cross is providing shelter, food and clothing for the family of six adults.

St. Louis, Friday, March 12, 2010 – The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team to an evening fire in the 1800 block of Suns Up Way in Florissant, MO. The Red Cross is assisting one family, providing shelter and food for one adult and two children.

St. Louis, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 – The American Red Cross today announced it is allocating an additional $24.4 million for Haiti earthquake relief and recovery, increasing its total commitment to date to $106.4 million.

St. Louis, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 – The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team on Monday night to a fire in the 2100 block of Russell in St. Louis, MO. The Red Cross is assisting two families, providing shelter for six adults and two children. The Red Cross will continue to evaluate the immediate emergency needs of these clients, and is ready to provide additional support.

St. Louis, Monday, March 8, 2010 – In an effort the save lives, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is encouraging Missourians to get prepared for severe weather this spring. The National Weather Service and the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency have declared March 8 – 12 as Severe Weather Awareness Week. Knowing what to do and where to go during severe weather can be the difference between life and death.
