7/25/2010 - American Red Cross Helps After Weather Damage
St. Louis, Sunday, July 24, 2010 – The American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter dispatched a Disaster Action Team to two reports of weather damage. The first occurred in the 4300 block of Gibson Avenue Court in St. Louis, MO. The Red Cross is assisting two families living next door to a building that collapsed. The Red Cross is providing shelter, food and clothing to five adults and three children.
 
The second incident happened in the 3900 block of Lada Avenue in St. Louis, MO. The Red Cross is providing food and clothing for one adult after a tree landed on the residence.

7/22/2010 - Red Cross Places Emergency Shelter on Standby; Teams to Assess Reports of Damage
St. Louis, Thursday, July 22, 2010 – The American Red Cross has placed its emergency shelter for flash flooding victims on standby. This shelter, at Normandy High School (6701 St. Charles Rock Road), will reopen if the need emerges.
 
Today, three teams of Red Cross Disaster Services volunteers will respond to approximately 30 reports of flooding damage in North St. Louis County and North St. Louis City. These volunteers will assess the damage on a case-by-case basis, and offer assistance for shelter, food, clothing and clean-up as needed.

7/22/2010 - Red Cross Lifesaver Awards to Spotlight 18 St. Louis Area Heroes

In one of the largest Lifesaver Awards to date, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter will feature eight stories of heroism during a ceremony at Chapter Headquarters. In all, 18 people from all walks of life will receive honors – ranging from a high school freshman to a sheriff’s deputy. In addition to these heroes, many of the people whose lives were saved will also attend.

7/21/2010 - American Red Cross Opens Emergency Shelter After Flash Flooding in North St. Louis County
St. Louis, Wednesday, July 21, 2010 – To meet emerging needs in the wake of flash flooding throughout northern St. Louis County, the American Red Cross St. Louis Area Chapter is opening an emergency shelter. This shelter will be open 24-hours to provide safe refuge and assist with emergency needs that include shelter, food and health services. As assessment continues, additional shelters will be opened if the need arises.

Jefferson City, MO – Tuesday, July 13, 2010 – Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has signed critical legislation requiring Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to be present on all basic life support ambulances and stretcher vans.
