Become a Lifeguard
The Red Cross trains more than 170,000 lifeguards each year. Lifeguard training and first aid certificates are valid for three years (CPR certificates for one year) from completion date. Learn more about our Lifeguarding Program.
Aquatic Examiner Service
The American Red Cross Aquatic Examiner Service is designed to help pool owners and operators ensure a safe and professional operation. Services include: an initial conference and review of your facility’s operational and emergency procedures by our aquatic examiner service administrator; annual preseason testing, Red Cross training and in-service training for lifeguards and support personnel; and on-site lifeguarding evaluations.
